Although I have known details of this branch of the Mossop family for a number of years, we visited the area in June/July 2006 when I was able to see for myself some of the churches associated with their early years.

Reverend John Mossop, of Cumberland farming stock, exchanged his upbringing on the wild and dramatic Fells for a lifetime's ministry in the Lincolnshire Fens, a flat landscape as far as the eye can see, bisected by numerous natural and manmade water courses.

By doing so, he founded a dynasty which spread far and wide.    These pages seek to give a brief background to those early years.
